Sole evaluation criterion is scientific excellence of researcher and research proposal, the grants are open to all disciplines. ERC grants come in three categories: Starting Grants (2-7 years after PhD), Consolidator Grants (7-12 years after PhD), and Advanced Grants (no limit).
